Drop by Grounds for Connection on August 26th to meet JR Ball and Mukul Verma, two longtime journalists who thought they had escaped the trade, only to be lured back by an idea that would not leave them alone.
Together, they launched RedEye, a fast-growing digital daily covering East Baton Rouge Parish with solutions-based journalism. Alongside civic reporting, RedEye makes room for food, parks, oddities and small delights—because joy is part of the civic good, too.
JR was executive editor of Baton Rouge Business Report, building a reputation for sharp commentary and guiding the growth of its print and digital platforms. Mukul reported and edited at Business Report before spending 15 years as director of communications for Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
